Vibration absorption of parallel-coupled nonlinear energy sink under shock and harmonic excitations

Abstract Nonlinear energy sink (NES) can passively absorb broadband from primary oscillators. Proper multiple NESs connected in parallel exhibit superior performance to single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) NESs. In this work, a linear coupling spring is installed between two so as expand the application scope of such vibration absorbers. The absorption and parallel-coupled system response induced by are studied. results show that responses significant difference when heavier cubic oscillators have lower stiffness lighter higher stiffness. Moreover, e±ciency NES for medium shocks but small large than also shows harmonic excitations until branches induced. SDOF compared. It found that, regardless chosen parameters, similar or entire force range.
